Doctors Adopting EHRs, Not Always Meeting Meaningful Use Rules

Below is a recent article that describes several different hurdles facing doctors who are finding that they are not meeting all the requirements for meaningful use due to being an early adopter of an EMR/EHR system prior to the release of the guidelines. Many are citing upgrade cost as a factor. Some doctors haven’t purchased an EMR at all due to large upfront costs for hardware/software. That’s why most are seriously looking at the cloud based model like what ABS provides:

“…As a result, the organization plans to contract with a number of cloud-based EHR providers in the near future, which offer monthly subscription plans in lieu of steep, fixed costs for hardware and software.”
